Sodium bromide is gaining wide acceptance as a cooling water additive, and as an effective water treatment for fruit and vegetable transport and washing. It can effectively replace chlorine or bleach because it is effective at higher pH values, is not "tied up" by organic matter, and has much lower odor levels.

Bromine and chlorine are very similar in functionality and chemistry, because they are so closely related on the periodic table of elements.

In order to be effective, however, sodium bromide must be "converted" (oxidized) to its free state, called hypobromous acid.

This "conversion" is accomplished using bleach in certain proportions to the sodium bromide. However, this "conversion" process can be very inefficient, and is typically only 30-40%. Therefore, only 30-40% of the bleach and/or bromide is utilized during the reaction, and the remainder is wasted and enters the treated water as unreacted bleach and sodium bromide.

Enviro Tech has developed a specific, highly efficient "generator" that converts virtually 96% of the bleach and sodium bromide into active hypobromous acid.

Thus, our proprietary generators convert more than twice the typical amount of chemical, which reduces cost and usage by at least 50%.

Enviro Tech is one of the largest purveyors of sodium bromide on the west coast. And for good reason.
